Hush Hush - Val/Josh

The book Hush Hush is easily one of my favourites, and gave me the idea for my story. It's about a girl called Nora Grey who meets Patch after he becomes her school biology partner. She has no idea where he's from, but she's attracted to his mysterious persona against her will. He seems to know all her, things that not even her closest friends know. He seems to be there every time something dangerous or strange happens, occurrences that seem to start happening after Patch arrives.
Nora soon comes to the shocking realisation that patch is a fallen angel. And that he was meant to kill her, to become human, however, Patch ends up falling in love with Nora, and Nora with Patch.
Nora's friend 'Jules' is in fact a nephilim, wants revenge against Patch, for tricking him into swearing an oath, allowing Patch to claiming his body during the Hebrew month of Cheshvan. To kill Chauncey (Jules) Nora must sacrifice herself, but as Patch is in love with her, he risks his life to save her, becoming a guardian angel. This has a similar idea to our book as it uses a mysterious guy to which a girl is attracted to although the guy turns out to be a 'fallen angel' and we mirrored this idea.

The Filming Process

We started filming our opening at the end of january, the first scene we filmed was the party scene and looking back it was really badly done and we did not prepare properly for it in the slightest. We didn't get a chance to re-film the party scene so we made do with what we had. We didn't anticipate the lighting to be so dim at valeriya's house (which is where we held the party) and it was only when we watched our footage the following tuesday we realised the majority of our footage was too dark and was not picked up properly. In addition to this we did not use the tripod due to lack of space which is something we should of planned for and that resulted in the camera being shaky, however we improvised and later used that too our advantage as it added to the party feel. Though we had a slow start we learned from our experience and from then on visited all filming locations before we used them, and made sure we could film what we wanted effectively in each location. When filming we soon realised it was beneficial to film each scene excessively from several  different shots and angles so that if there was a mistake we did not have to re-film  as in theory we should already have another shot we could use. It also helped show transitions through doors or between scenes smoothly as we could pick the shots that fitted best. The media lessons before hand and also the preliminary task meant we had a good knowledge of different shots and also rules that we had to abide by, such as the 'rule of thirds' and also we were a lot more comfortable and efficient on the equipment.

SUMMER (VOICE OVER)

I don't know where, or how to start diary, it just seems so surreal . One minute i'm having a great time laughing and joking // then I'm thrown against the wall, almost killed by one of the people I thought I could trust the most // however after everything I've been through. I wouldn't change it for the world.. but let's start from the beginning..

// CUT TO PARTY SCENE, CONTINUATION OF VOICE OVER

// CUT TO GOING UPSTAIRS INTO ROOM, SWITCHES ON LIGHT WHICH AUTOMATICALLY SWITCHES OFF AND THE DOOR SLAMS SHUT

Things I did Well - Valeriya
I grasped the concept of editing almost immediately and did most of the editing for my group, although we took it in turns, i also learnt that the more you do, the better it will be. If you have a varied amount of angles and shots it will just come together and look better once it's all edited. Making sure i had the right people at the right time was also important, getting in contact with everyone wasn't difficult.
